Ideas escape from brain of pensive african man

“….then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold, and the LORD blessed him. The man began to prosper and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him…”Genesis 26:12-14 (NKJV)

When we take a close look at the life of Isaac, we see that at one point when the famine became severe in the land where he stayed, he decided to leave but right in the middle of his plans, he had an encounter with God that changed his story. He moved from wanting to leave the land to prospering until he became very prosperous. Now, the question is, what changed? How did he go from wanting to run away, to prospering in the same land while the famine continued? Well, it is simple! He heard from the Almighty God who appeared to him and said, “…do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws…” Genesis 26:1-2 (NKJV).

Now, on the basis of the word Isaac heard, he decided to sow in the land, and he prospered in the same land that he had planned to leave. Beloved, the whole essence of this story, is to remind you of the most important thing that you require if you truly want to prosper in these turbulent times. You need to hear from God if you truly want to stand out in the midst of the challenges in the world. Today, you discover that many of God’s people are facing a lot of difficulties in life because they did not hear from God. If you truly want to excel in that business or career of yours; if you truly want to excel in your marriage and make an impact in your world, you must crave the voice of God. Refuse to move without hearing God. Make it a point of duty to desire the will of God regarding a matter before you get involved, and trust me, when you hear from God and take action on the instructions He gives you, you will surely prosper as Isaac did. Therefore, I pray for you today, that as you journey in your walk with God this year, you will hear His voice and receive direction in Jesus’ name.

Confession for the Day

Thank you, Father, for your Word, I decree this day that I will not venture into anything without hearing from you. I choose this day to wait to hear from God before I make any move and as I receive instructions and put them to work, I am walking in dominion and prosperity in the name of Jesus. Amen!

  • After Isaac was confronted by Abimalech and confessed his lie about Rebekah being his sister, the Word says “Then Isaac sowed in that land and received in the same year 100-fold and the Lord blessed him”.
It sounds like his confession opened that door of the 100-fold return. Is that true? But it also says earlier in that story that, because of God’s promises to Abraham, Isaac’s father, that’s why Isaac prospered. What are your thoughts on that? And how would we apply that today as believers in Jesus Christ and His blood shed for us?
    Thank you
