Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. —Luke 22:43-44 (NKJV)

Recently, I was using my earbuds to listen to music and messages. I used them for a long time until the battery eventually drained and signaled that it needed to be charged. I quickly connected them to the power source and kept them in their case. It didn’t take long for them to recharge, but the experience taught me an important lesson that I’d like to share with you today.

As believers, we often face what’s known as burnout. We get tired from the daily hustle and bustle of life. This exhaustion isn’t just physical; it’s spiritual as well. We were created with the need for replenishment because everything requires rest or what we might call a recharge.

Even the Creator rested on the seventh day after working for six, showing us how essential it is to pause and recover. As the Scripture says, And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done —Genesis 2:2 (NKJV).

The way to achieve this spiritual recharge is to stay connected to your power source, which is the Father. The most effective way to do this is by taking time to wait on the Lord. Every time you wait on Him through personal retreats or quiet time, your strength is renewed. The Savior has promised that those who wait on Him will find fresh vitality for their journey.

The Scripture confirms this promise: But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint —Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV). No matter how busy your schedule becomes this year, always remember to stay connected to the Master. When you do, you’ll find yourself renewed and equipped for the days ahead. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

No matter what I face or go through, I choose to stay connected to God, who is my power source. As I do this, I am strengthened physically and spiritually in the name of Jesus. Amen!
