“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” — Proverbs 11:14 (NKJV)

One of the mistakes many believers make today is failing to seek counsel before making major decisions in their lives. This attitude has led many into unnecessary challenges in marriage, business, and family—situations that were never part of God’s plan for them.

Recently, I heard of a young and promising minister of the Gospel who was doing well in his calling. When it was time for him to get married, he introduced his fiancée to his spiritual father. However, his spiritual father advised him not to proceed with the marriage. Instead of seeking further understanding about the counsel, he chose to ignore it, disconnected from his mentor, and went ahead with the wedding. Sadly, a few years later, the marriage became deeply problematic, leading to his untimely death.

This is just one of many examples in our world today. If only he had accepted the counsel given to him, he would still be alive.

Beloved, if you want to avoid costly mistakes that could endanger your life, make it a habit to seek godly counsel before making big decisions. However, it doesn’t end there—when counsel is given, be wise enough to take it to God in prayer for confirmation. If the counsel is from God, the best thing you can do for yourself is to accept it and align with it.

So, I encourage you today—seek counsel before taking action. And when you receive godly wisdom, be smart enough to accept it, so you can take the right steps in life. Hallelujah!
