“I know what you have done; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were either one or the other.” —Revelation 3:15 (GNT)

In the world today, there are two kinds of Christians: the sacrificial Christian and the convenient Christian. The sacrificial Christians are those who make sacrifices in their walk with Christ. They go the extra mile for the Kingdom. They pray when it is not convenient, they attend church services and win souls when it is not convenient, and they use their resources for the propagation of the Gospel.

On the other hand, convenient Christians are those who make excuses in their walk with God. They never want to do anything for Him or with Him. They make excuses for literally everything, finding it hard to pray or go out for evangelism. They are not willing to forsake anything for God or inconvenience themselves to be in alignment with His vision, plans, and purposes.

Jesus calls this kind of believer a “lukewarm Christian.” In Laodicea, these were the kind of Christians found there, so the Lord said:

“I know what you have done; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were either one or the other! But because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth.” —Revelation 3:15-16 (GNT)

This means the Master is not comfortable with Christians who have this kind of attitude. Therefore, you must decide what kind of Christian you are going to be. Are you going to be a Christian whose walk with God is based on convenience, or will you be a Christian whose walk is sacrificial?

I encourage you to become a sacrificial Christian. Real Christianity is not one without responsibility. It must cost you something. It will require you to forsake your old ways and adopt the ways of God. If your Christianity doesn’t cost you anything, you will get nothing out of it.

That is why the Savior said to His disciples:

“If any of you want to come with me, you must forget yourself, carry your cross, and follow me. For if you want to save your own life, you will lose it; but if you lose your life for my sake, you will find it. Will you gain anything if you win the whole world but lose your life? Of course not! There is nothing you can give to regain your life.” —Matthew 16:24-26 (GNT)

Did you see that? This lets us know that there is a cross to carry in following Jesus, and that cross represents the sacrifices you need to make. Therefore, choose to be a sacrificial Christian. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for revealing this truth to me. I declare this day that the grace to be a sacrificial Christian is at work in me, and as I walk in this path, I am fulfilling my purpose in Jesus’ name. Amen!
