“But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.”Romans 3:21 (NKJV)

Now that we have established in the previous parts of this article that righteousness is a gift from God and is now our nature, someone might ask: What are the benefits of this gift of righteousness? Well, there are many benefits, but I will just highlight a few to help you understand the priceless possession that resides in our spirit. The first benefit of this gift is that it helps you to stand before God without guilt or condemnation. In the Old Testament, this was not possible because man was in a fallen state. However, our Lord Jesus Christ came and paid the ultimate price, and this gift was made available to those who believed in Him. So, henceforth, you can be sure to stand before God without guilt or condemnation because you now have the gift of righteousness.

The second benefit is that you can be assured that anytime you pray according to the will of God, your prayers will surely be answered. The Bible says, “…The Lord hears the prayers of the righteous”Proverbs 15:29 (NKJV). In another part of the scripture, the Bible says, “the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their prayer”1 Peter 3:12 (GNT). Did you see that? Sometimes, the devil tries to lie to us, saying that God will not answer our prayers, but when you have the understanding that you have the gift of righteousness in you, you will never give in to such lies. Instead, you will double down on your prayers. Hallelujah!

The third benefit, which is lightly talked about today, is that the gift of righteousness makes us live every day in divine health. It gives you an edge over sickness and afflictions. I know this might sound too good to be true, but let me explain. Before Adam fell, he was not subject to sickness or disease because he was in right standing with God. However, when he fell, sin came into the world, and death came through sin. The Bible says, “…death spread to all men because all sinned…”Romans 5:12 (GNT). Now, because death spread to all, man in this fallen state became subject to death and its fruits (sickness and diseases). But when Jesus paid the ultimate price through His death, burial, and resurrection, the gift of righteousness was released. So, as long as this gift is in you, life is at work in you, and this life is not subject to sickness and disease. These and many more benefits are there for you to take advantage of. All that is required of you is to walk in the consciousness of this truth. Hallelujah!
