“…if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror, for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does…” —James 1:23-25 (NKJV)

Having studied the word of God for a while now, I discovered that the only way to unlock the blessings embedded in the word and have it produce results in your life, is to remember the things God has said concerning you in it. That’s where the power lies. The word of God cannot do anything for you, if you refuse to accept it, live conscious of it, and do what it talks about. Sadly, some people see God’s word as just some esoteric writings compiled in a book. This is the reason some people still ask questions like, “Who wrote the Bible?” “Who was there when the incidents recorded in the Bible took place?” Because they still see and take God’s word as mere words. However, as a Christian, God wants you to see beyond the letters and understand that His words are life to you. And this is the reason you ought to remember the things you see in God’s word and do them.

If you are the kind of person who forgets what is written there, then you will never tap into the power at work in the Word. For example, the Bible already says to us that we have not been given the spirit of fear but of love, of power, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). You are expected to take advantage of it and remember it anytime the devil tries to put fear in your heart because what God has said is the truth. No matter how the devil tries, fear has no place in you because the word of God has said so.

Therefore, I encourage you to live every day of your life remembering what God has said concerning your business, family, finances, health, and other things. The beautiful thing about God’s word is that it addresses everything about your life. You might not see it expressly written, but if you take your time to study the word and meditate on it, you will get answers to the questions in your heart. So get to God’s word today and remember what you see in it so that you may be able to live in the reality of it and carry out the things written in it. It is the secret to living the blessed life that God has called you to live.

The Bible says in our open scripture that “…he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does…” meaning that your ability to remember and do what the word of God says will make a success out of you. Praise God!

The word of God cannot do anything for you, if you refuse to accept it. Live conscious of it and do what it talks about!

Confession for the Day

Dear heavenly father, I thank you for creating me and giving me your word to live by. I declare that as I do the things written in your word and live that consciousness, I make progress in all things, and I prosper in whatever I do in the name of Jesus. Amen!
