I, the Lord God of Israel, promised in the past that your family and your clan would serve me as priests for all time. But now I say that I won’t have it any longer! Instead, I will honor those who honor me, and I will treat with contempt those who despise me. —1 Samuel 2:30 (GNT)
When God made Eli a priest, God promised him that his family and clan would be priest for all time but as time went by that promise changed because Eli’s Sons did not honor God and Eli didn’t do much about it. They misbehaved and slept with temple worshipers. They treated the sacrifices of God with contempt and dishonored God in many different ways. So, God said, I will honor those who honor me, and I will treat with contempt those who despise me. —1 Samuel 2:30 (GNT)
Now, this gives us an idea of how God wants us to live our lives. God does not want to be dishonored by His children. God wants us to honor Him with our lives and resources. In the book of Malachi 1:6, the Lord Almighty says to the priests, Children honor their parents, and servants honor their masters. I am your father—why don’t you honor me? I am your master—why don’t you respect me? You despise me, and yet you ask, ‘How have we despised you?’ This is how—by offering worthless food on my altar. Then you ask, ‘How have we failed to respect you?’ I will tell you—by showing contempt for my altar. When you bring a blind or sick or lame animal to sacrifice to me, do you think there’s nothing wrong with that? Try giving an animal like that to the governor! Would he be pleased with you or grant you any favors? —Malachi 1:7-8 (GNT)
From this, we see that God actually prioritizes honor. He wants to be honored by us; the question is, how much do you honor God in your life, and in your dealings? If you have not made honoring God a priority in your life, I encourage you to do so because the blessings are enormous. There are so many blessings you can unlock in God, if you begin to honor the Lord deliberately with the time, resources, strength and gifts He has given to you. So, be encouraged to do the needful from henceforth. Use your life to honor God and watch the wonderful blessings you will begin unlock in God. Remember, the Bible says honor the Lord by making him an offering from the best of all that your land produces. If you do, your barns will be filled with grain, and you will have too much wine to store it all. —Proverbs 3:9-10 (GNT). Hallelujah!

Prayer
Father, I am grateful for reminding me of the importance of making honor a priority in my life. I therefore choose to honor you with my life, my time, my resources and my all and as I do this, I am walking in the blessings that honor unlocks in Jesus name. Amen!
