listening, listen, upset

“…but when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come…” John 16:13 (NIV)

Have you ever been in a place where someone says, “and God spoke to me” and then you are wondering, how is it that some people can hear from God and I am not able to hear from God? Well, in case you have always had that question in mind, I have good news for you. As a Christian, it is important for you to know that you too can hear from God. As a matter of fact hearing from God is your birth right because God is a speaking God and one of the things He does the most is to speak to His children always. But the challenge is that not many Christian are listening, so because of this, they feel that hearing from God is only for a selected few. But that is not true. Hearing from God is God’s desire but you have to understand the basic truth about hearing from God.

First you need to know that, it is God’s number one desire that you should hear Him talk to you. Remember you are in a relationship with God, and relationships flourishes through communication. So He wants to speak to you but you must make up your mind to listen to him. Secondly, you must understand that, to facilitate hearing from God, He gave you His Spirit as a gift to come dwell in you. Now He is living inside of you and wants to bring to you what God the Father is saying, but you must acknowledge His presence in your life, recognize His voice and know when He is speaking and do not ignore what He says to you. Thirdly, you must get acquainted with the scriptures. The scriptures reveal to us the heart and opinions of God. Giving attention to it, helps you to hear God. These are the three major things you must know about hearing from God. So if you really want to hear God speak, pay attention and you will hear His voice. At first, when you begin to pay attention, you will be faced with many distractions, because the devil does not want you to hear God speak but if you become conscious of hearing God speak to you, you will overcome those distractions and hear Him talk to you. Remember, the Holy Spirit is there to help you receive that word from God. He is there to guide in you into all truth and to bear witness that what you are hearing is from God and not of the devil. Praise God!
