Since you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him… —Colossians 2:6-7 (GNT)
Now that you have received Jesus into your life, you must prioritize living in union with Him. This means becoming conscious of His presence and walking the path He has prepared for you. Rather than seeking to please yourself, focus on the things that bring Him joy. Take His Word seriously and build your life upon its foundation. While some may feel entitled to live however they choose, this union requires a higher standard.
Consider the analogy of marriage to better understand this concept. When a man and a woman marry, they begin to live as one. Their goals align, their destinations merge, and they make every decision to accommodate their shared journey. They no longer live strictly for themselves but for one another, defending each other’s interests and providing constant support. They do this because they are now one in the union of marriage.
In the same way, we ought to live in union with Christ. We can no longer approach life from a purely selfish point of view or desire a lifestyle that contradicts our bond with Him. Our purpose is now to live for the Master rather than for ourselves. I encourage you to remain conscious of this union and devote your life to Him daily. Follow the example of the Apostle Paul, who understood this spiritual reality deeply.
…it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. This life that I live now, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me. —Galatians 2:20 (GNT)
