A good person’s words are a fountain of life, but a wicked person’s words hide a violent nature. (Proverbs 10:11 GNT)
As a believer, one of the things you must learn to do when you speak to others is to speak life and not death. You must be conscious enough to ensure your communications are full of life and free of death. If you do not do this consciously, your words could inadvertently communicate death without you realizing it. Now, you might ask, “What do you mean?” I will explain.
Often, when people speak, they complain, murmur, and voice many negative things. They might do this thinking they are merely expressing themselves honestly, but they may not realize that their communication is bringing death rather than life. Imagine someone discussing with another person and saying they are fed up with life and just feel like giving up. To that person, they may think they are just having an honest conversation, but spiritually, they are activating laws that could eventually lead to death or other negative outcomes.
Therefore, it is imperative that you become mindful of your communications. The best way to do this is to be deliberate about what you say. Think before you speak, and when you speak, choose words carefully because every time you speak, you are activating a law that will work either for you or against you. The Bible says, Remember this, my dear friends! Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry. (James 1:19 GNT). Take note of the part that says to be slow to speak. The reason we are admonished this way is that it helps us to speak properly and thoughtfully.
So, I encourage you today to become mindful of your communications with others. Make a conscious decision to always communicate life. At first, it may seem difficult, but if you consciously persist in it, you will surely eradicate those negative words that activate the wrong laws in your life.
