Let Your Christmas Celebration Be About Christ

Devotionals

You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High God. The Lord God will make him a king, as his ancestor David was.

—Luke 1:31-32 (GNT)

One of the things I have discovered over the years is that almost everyone around the world celebrates Christmas. People go out shopping, clubbing, and the like; many even decorate their homes with beautiful ornaments. But guess what? Not everyone celebrates because of Jesus and His finished work.

Why? Because many do not believe in Jesus or what He came to do. They celebrate without Christ at the center because they see it merely as a holiday season.

However, as a believer, your celebration should be centered on Christ because He is the reason for the season. He came to this world to restore what we lost through the first man—our relationship with the Father. He paid the ultimate price, and today, we have peace with God because of Him (Romans 5:1).

So, as you celebrate Christmas today, let Jesus be at the center of everything you do. Let all your actions be for His glory. Take time to remind others of what Jesus has done for them and pray for friends and relatives who do not yet know Him, that they may encounter Christ this season.

Above all, spend time studying and meditating on the life, suffering, and sacrifice of Jesus, and bask in the victory He brought to you. Let Christmas be a constant reminder that Jesus paid the price for you. Hallelujah!

Christmas celebration is all about Christ and His finished work—nothing else!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for this insightful article. I celebrate the finished work of Jesus, and I declare that the blessings of that finished work are gaining expression in my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
