What I say is this: let the Spirit direct your lives, and you will not satisfy the desires of the human nature. —Galatians 5:16 (GNT)
As you run the race this year, one of the things you must work on is making God the major influence in your life. When the Father becomes the primary influence in your heart, you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh or fall into the traps of the enemy. The Scripture encourages us to walk and live habitually in the Holy Spirit. By being responsive to and guided by Him, you ensure that you do not gratify the cravings of your lower nature.
The Apostle Paul explains that the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh. These two forces are in constant conflict with one another, often preventing you from doing what you truly desire. However, if you are guided and led by the Holy Spirit, you are no longer subject to the Law. When the Master is the leading influence, you will not give in to the demands of godless human nature.
Walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do. But if you are guided (led) by the [Holy] Spirit, you are not subject to the Law. —Galatians 5:16-18 (AMPC)
When the Lord is the primary influence in your life, you will refuse to yield to the demands of the flesh. As long as you walk in this truth, you will not experience the corruption that a life centered on the flesh produces. Therefore, make up your mind to let the Savior be your guide as you navigate this year. The best way to do this is to immerse yourself in spiritual activities and remain sensitive to His leading.
If you plant in the field of your natural desires, from it you will gather the harvest of death; if you plant in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit you will gather the harvest of eternal life. —Galatians 6:8 (GNT)
Every choice you make is like planting a seed in a field. If you plant in the field of the Spirit, you will gather a harvest of eternal life from the Spirit. Let the Lord be the ultimate influence over your heart and mind today. By doing so, you will walk in victory and remain safe from the enemy’s reach. Hallelujah!
Today’s Rhema
If you do not want to fall into the trap of the enemy or be ruled by your flesh, walk in the Spirit and let God be your Influence!
Confession for the Day
Thank You, Father, for helping me understand this truth. I declare that henceforth, Satan will no longer be the influence in my life. You are the Influence in my life from today, and nothing will stop that in the name of Jesus. Amen!
