For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
One of the things the devil tries to make us believe over and over is that he is in charge. He will stir up situations in your life to make it look like you have lost control and that Jesus has no say in the matter. In the midst of all this, you must come to the place where you understand that no matter what the devil tries to tell you, all power belongs to Jesus and He has all authority.
Now, I know this might sound bold, but it is the truth, and you should allow it to become a reality in your life. Someone might ask, “With all the things the devil is doing in the world, how can you say only Jesus has authority?”
You must know that the authority Satan operates on now is the authority he took from Adam in the garden. However, Jesus took back that authority and received an even greater one. Jesus said:
“I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.” —Matthew 28:18 (GNT)
In the book of Revelation, when He spoke to John, He said:
“Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” —Revelation 1:17-18 (ESV)
From this, we see that only Jesus has total authority. He was given the name that is above every other name, so that:
at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. —Philippians 2:10-11 (NKJV)
What is the significance of all this? It means only Jesus has authority over your life, not the devil. The only authority Satan has over you is the authority you give to him through fear or ignorance. Therefore, refuse to be manipulated. Instead, stand on the authority Jesus has given to you and claim your victory. Hallelujah!
