“Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail…”- Luke 22:31-32 (NKJV)

Our opening scripture tells of an incident between Jesus and Simon Peter before His crucifixion. It was a simple statement that revealed something that we should hold in high esteem as Christians. Jesus said to Peter, Satan has asked for you that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith should not fail…” From this statement, Jesus Christ revealed to us that our Faith as Christians can fail if we don’t protect it through prayers. Therefore, it is important that we deliberately take actions that help our faith to stay in shape and active. Faith, according to the scriptures, is the victory that has overcome the world (1 John 5:4), without it, the Bible declares, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). In other words, faith is indispensable to our walk with God. If you will experience peace, success and victory in life, it will only come by faith but you must make sure that you do things that protect your faith so that it does not fail.

In a world where so much evil is going on, it is easy to lose faith to fail because the news around is hardly encouraging. Every day, you hear news of war, deadly diseases and more, which are enough to choke your faith. But as a child of God, you have to make a conscious decision to remain strengthened in your faith. Refuse to allow the news to make you ineffective or keep you in fear, rather mount your guard and see to it that your faith does not fail. Take your eyes off the world and your ears away from the news around you and set your gaze on Jesus.

Peace is nowhere in this world except in Jesus Christ, so the best thing you can do for yourself is abide in Christ and let His words abide in you. Keep His words and do His words. Amidst all the news, let the good news that is in the gospel be your guarding light. Let your faith rest on the good news and refuse to panic. Meditate on the good news again and again and pray at all times. If you are prayerful and doing the word, it doesn’t matter what comes your way, you will always emerge a winner and your faith will remain unshakeable. So be encouraged and see to it that your faith does not fail.

Confession for the Day

Father In the Name of Jesus, I thank you for your word that has come to strengthen my faith. I choose to remain connected to your word, because your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. In all that I hear, I will remain calm and maintain my composure because Jesus Christ is my peace and my fortress. I refuse to fear. Hallelujah!
