Are any among you in trouble? They should pray. Are any among you happy? They should sing praises. —James 5:13 (GNT)

Most times when believers go through difficulties or certain complications, they get very discouraged because at that point, it seems as though all hell has broken loose. They magnify the situation to the point where it looks like they have met a dead end. In the actual sense, however, that is not the reality of the situation. They only do this because they do not know what else to do, and you will see them complain about that situation over and over again. Is this how God wants us to respond to situations? The answer is no.

Beloved, when you go through difficulties, do not cry or whine about it, because that will not change anything. Do not go from one person to another seeking help, because that also may not bring you the kind of solution that you desire. Instead, pray. I know that this statement may not seem to make much sense in the natural, but it holds the key to your deliverance.

I remember years ago, a young lady came to meet me about some situations she was going through and I asked her to go and pray. She looked at me with disbelief because she felt that was not a solution at all, but that was actually all the solution she needed. When she began to pray, a few weeks later, she came out of that situation. Prayer is the one thing that positions you to receive divine solutions.

Sadly, many people do not take it seriously. Instead, they prefer to jump from pillar to post looking for help. Beloved, you must settle one thing in your heart: real change does not start from the physical realm but from the spiritual realm. If you somehow manage to get a change only in the physical realm, it will not last long because that change has no roots. Real change starts from the realm of the Spirit and overflows into the physical realm.

Now, the way to secure this kind of change is through prayer. Therefore, it is imperative that you take the subject of prayer seriously and actually pray. The Bible says in our opening text that if any are in trouble, they should pray. This is the key to coming out of any situation triumphantly.

Prayer

Father, I thank You for helping me understand the importance of prayer. I receive the grace, wisdom, and discipline to pray, and as I do this, testimonies are pouring out in Jesus’ name. Amen!
