“…as you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving…” Colossians 2:6-7 (NKJV)

As a believer, you need to understand that your growth in Christ Jesus, goes a long way to determine your life story. The blessings or frustrations you will face in this journey are largely dependent on your growth. Therefore, you’ve got to understand that the days of being a baby-Christian are gone; God expects you to grow. “Isn’t it enough to receive Jesus and be saved?” You might ask. Well, receiving Jesus into your life is only just the beginning. You have a responsibility to grow in Him through His words and teachings. His words help you grow and develop tenacity in the faith. Your growth in Him will determine the foundation you will have in Him and guess what, the need for a firm foundation in Christ Jesus cannot be over emphasized.

It helps you to stand in the evil day and maintain your grip on the integrity of the Word even when circumstances challenge you to abandon the faith. It helps you to stand firm in the midst of controversial doctrinal issues. But you must store up the words of Jesus Christ in your heart and be ready to do them when the need arises. Jesus said something of note of on this subject: “…whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock and the rain descended, the floods came, and the wind blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of mine and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand; and the rain descended, the floods came, and winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall…” Matthew 7:24-26 (NKJV). Meaning, it is necessary to hear and do His words, because that drives your roots deeper in Him. So what will you do with this information today? Get to work and don’t wait. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

Jesus is my firm foundation and my roots grow deeper in Him every day by reason of His words and principles. I refuse to be tossed to and fro by any wind of doctrine because I know who I am, I know what I’ve got and I know to whom I belong. I’m unshakeable and firmly planted in Jesus’ name. Amen!
