“…David said, the Lord, who has delivered me from the paw of the Lion and the Paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this philistine…” —1 Samuel 17:37 (NKJV)

Sometimes, when the challenges of life come, some people get very worried and disturbed thinking their whole world is crumbling. But they never stop to remember that God has delivered them from worse situations in the past. The pressure of the current situation causes them to forget that the God who saved them the last time is still ready to save them again if they would just look up to Him for help.

I do not know what you are currently going through in your life, but I want you to know that all hope is not lost. God who delivered you from worse situations in the past, is still willing to help you again if you will remember the things he has done in the past and trust him to do even more for you today.

The Bible records that when David was about to go to battle with Goliath of Gath, everybody questioned his ability including Saul the King. As a matter of fact, “…Saul said to David, you are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, for you are a youth and he is a man of war from his youth…” 1 Samuel 17:33 (NKJV). But David remembered the deliverance of the Lord in the past and said, “the Lord, who has delivered me from the paw of the Lion and the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine” 1 Samuel 17:37 (NKJV). Did you see that? Can you imagine the kind of confidence that David had? He knew that if God could save him from the lion and the bear in the past, the giant would not be different.

This is a trait you don’t find among many Christians today. All they do is whine and grind and believe that their lives have come to an end. But hear me child of God. God has kept you all these years and delivered you from several challenges—both the ones you were full aware of, and those you were unaware of—and He is still ready to do more for you. But you must acknowledge what He has done for you in the past and let it be your confidence today.

Remember, when David reminded himself of what the Lord had done, he got charged up and motivated to go against the Philistine and defeat him. Believe me, David did not win that battle when he let the stone go, he won the battle when he remembered what God did for him in the past. So, take time out today to remember all the troubles God delivered you from yesterday, and let it be your confidence today and tomorrow. If you can do this, there is no situation that will bring you down. Praise God!

Today’s Rhema

David did not win that battle when he let the stone go, he won the battle when he remembered what God did for him in the past!

Confession for the Day

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for reminding me that you are always there for me. I realize that if you did it for me before, you will do it again. Therefore, I choose this day to cast my worries away and put my faith in You, Your Word, and your Power. I declare that as I do this, I win in all things no matter what comes my way in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
