“….O Lord, you are faithful to those who are faithful to you; completely good to those who are perfect….”Ps 18:25 (GNT)
Years after Papa Abraham had worked with God faithfully, his faith and faithfulness towards God was tested. God said to him, “Abraham!” And Abraham answered, “Yes, here I am!” “Take your son,” God said, “your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah. There on a mountain that I will show you, offer him as a sacrifice to me.”Genesis 22:1-2 ( GNT). God wanted to move Papa Abraham to the next level of blessings, but it wasn’t going to come easy. It had to come through a test, so papa Abraham’s faithfulness was tested. Now, when Papa Abraham had proved that he could do what God was asking him to do, see what God told him. God said to Abraham “…Don’t hurt the boy or do anything to him,” he said. “Now I know that you honor and obey God, because you have not kept back your only son from him…” Genesis 22:12 (GNT) Did you see that?
All these years papa Abraham had worked faithfully with God, but his faithfulness had to be tested further and when he passed the test, God said “I make a vow by my own name—the Lord is speaking—that I will richly bless you. Because you did this and did not keep back your only son from me, I promise that I will give you as many descendants as there are stars in the sky or grains of sand along the seashore. Your descendants will conquer their enemies. All the nations will ask me to bless them as I have blessed your descendants—all because you obeyed my command…”Genesis 16-18 (GNT). Now, from the story we just read above, we see that it is not enough to have faith in God. We also should be faithful to God. There are too many people today who are not faithful to God in different areas of their lives. Many are not faithful to God in their finances, they hardly pay their tithe or give to God what is due to Him financially. They hold back from God and expects so much from Him. Many wants to hear from God, but they are not faithful in study or hearing the word. We could go on and on because the list is endless. However, you must ask yourself this question, “am I really faithful to God in my finances, in my personal ministry and in my walk with God? Am I generous towards God or selfish towards Him? Can God trust me like He trusted papa Abraham? When you are sincere with the answers to this question, you will know the truth and know how to adjust. So, make a conscious decision to be faithful to God. Remember, God is faithful to those who are faithful to Him ( Psalm 18:25)
