Let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. —James 1:5 (AMPC)
(Note: This verse is often paired or confused with verse 6 in AMPC. For clarity, here’s the full passage in AMPC for context, inline as a continuous quote.)

Let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man expect that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. —James 1:5–6 (AMPC)

Have you ever thought in your heart that God is selfish? Have you ever felt that He is holding back from you? If so, you are not alone. Many people have had the same feelings and believe that God withholds blessings—either because they sinned, made mistakes, or simply because He’s unwilling. But such thoughts are not godly; they arise from the devil, who wants us to believe God is reluctant to bless His children. As Christians, we must reject these lies and hold fast to the truth.

God, in His infinite mercy, never withholds from His children. In our opening scripture, He’s described as the giving God who gives to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or fault-finding. Contrary to deception, God does not weigh your errors before giving. His giving is based on grace, made available through Jesus’s finished work.

While human mistakes may hinder someone from receiving due to guilt or condemnation, they never stop God from giving. The issue lies not with God’s willingness, but with our capacity to receive.

Renew your mind with this truth. Scripture says, He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. —Matthew 5:45 (NKJV). God’s generosity isn’t based on our merit, but on His grace.

Jesus confirmed this truth, saying:

If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? —Luke 11:11–13 (NKJV)

Therefore, remember this promise:

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, nor shadow of turning. —James 1:17 (NKJV). Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

God does not consider your mistakes before He gives to you; He simply gives because of His grace!

Confession for the Day

Every wrong thought about God’s faithfulness and kindness is removed from my mind today. I declare that only right thoughts dwell in me. I prophesy that in all I do today, my gaze remains on the faithfulness of my God—and nothing can sway me otherwise, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
