“…we are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but forsake; struck down, but not destroyed….” 2 Corinthians 4:8 (NKJV)
Having established from the first part of this article the truth about discouragement, you must make a conscious decision to reject it in your life and don’t give room for it to fester in your life. Rather, turn your attention to God’s word and let it be your comfort in times of distress.
Unfortunately, this is usually the last thing many of God’s people want to do when they are in distress. When you try to take their mind towards the word of God, they get irritated because that is not something they want to hear. However, the truth remains that the word of God is still the solution to difficult times. Your responsibility is to go for the word of God and not allow your emotions to cloud your judgment. Interestingly, if you turn to the word in such times where you are overwhelmed, you will surely find comfort because God knows how to come through for His children.
Remember, the Bible says “…many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all…” Psalms 34:19 (NKJV). The challenges you are going through are not new and they are not there to destroy you. So whatever you face, you will certainly come out victoriously because God has already planned out your escape. For It is written, “no temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it…”1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV). So be strong in the Lord and in the word of His grace which is able to build you up, strengthen you and keep you inspired. Praise God!
