But now you must get rid of all these things: anger, passion, and hateful feelings. No insults or obscene talk must ever come from your lips. —Colossians 3:8 (GNT)
As you grow in your Christian walk, there are several things you must get rid of to prove your spiritual maturity. Some of these habits include anger, passion, hateful feelings, and obscene talk. Sadly, this is not the case for many believers. Long after they have received the Lord Jesus into their lives, they still behave and speak the same way they did when they were still in the world. Sometimes, you can hardly differentiate between them and unbelievers, but the truth is that this is not how God wants us to live our lives.
As a believer, you must understand that beyond receiving the Master into your life, there are several adjustments that must be made. Without these spiritual and behavioral adjustments, there will be no physical evidence of the new life you have received in Christ. Therefore, it is imperative that now that you have received the Lord, you should begin to work toward a tangible change in your character.
But now you must get rid of all these things: anger, passion, and hateful feelings. No insults or obscene talk must ever come from your lips. Do not lie to one another, for you have put off the old self with its habits and have put on the new self. This is the new being which God, its Creator, is constantly renewing in His own image, in order to bring you to a full knowledge of Himself. —Colossians 3:8-10 (GNT)
If you can do this, it will help you live a glorious Christian life, maintain healthy relationships with people, and keep you blameless until the day of the Lord. Consequently, you must become conscious of how you live your life every day. Be mindful of what you say, how you speak, how you think, and above all, how you relate with others. Praise God!
