“…..He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes….”I John 2:10‭-‬11 (NKJV)

As a believer, the Bible says we have been delivered from the dominion of darkness and translated to the kingdom of God’s dear son who is Jesus (Colossians 1:13). Now, this kingdom is the kingdom of light. God wants you to function from this kingdom as you go about your Christian walk. The reason is because this is where you now belong. When you function from this kingdom, you are operating from a place of light.

However, something I have discovered so far is that it is possible to be in this kingdom of light and yet function from a place of darkness. For example, when you walk in bitterness or hatred, you are functioning from a place of darkness. The Bible says, “…He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes…”I John 2:10-‬11 (NKJV). Did you see that? This lets us know that there are things you could be doing that cause you to function from a place of darkness.

So you must become conscious of these things. Hatred, malice, grudges, jealousy and the like, are all darkness. You must avoid them. You might say, so what can I do to function from a place of light always? Well, it’s simple, all you need to do is walk in love. When you walk in love, you are functioning from light. Remember, the Bible says in our opening text, “…He who loves his brother abides in the light…” 1 John 2:10 (NKJV). So, “…Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love…” I John 4:7‭-‬8 (NKJV).

Today’s Rhema

The key to functioning from light is to walk in love!

Confession for the Day

The grace to walk in love mightily at work in me therefore, I choose to walk in love now and all the days of life. I choose to avoid all attitudes that make me function from a place of darkness and as I do, I am walking in dominion in the name of Jesus. Amen!
