“There were foreigners traveling with the Israelites. They had a strong craving for meat, and even the Israelites themselves began to complain: “If only we could have some meat! In Egypt we used to eat all the fish we wanted, and it cost us nothing. Remember the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic we had? But now our strength is gone. There is nothing at all to eat—nothing but this manna day after day.” (Numbers 11:4-6 GNT)

Do you want to walk in God’s purpose and destiny for your life? I yes, then you must forget about the onions and the garlic of Egypt. You must set your gaze on the destination God has for you and embrace the process He is taking you through.

Over the years, I have noticed that many people want the blessings of the Promised Land, but they are unwilling to go through the process that leads there. Instead, they grumble and vent their displeasure because of the momentary discomfort they face. Unknown to them, that discomfort is the small sacrifice they have to make to get to the future they desire.

The Israelites were influenced to act this way, and the Bible says: “There were foreigners traveling with the Israelites. There is nothing at all to eat—nothing but this manna day after day.” (Numbers 11:4-6 GNT).

Did you see that? They wanted to have their cake and eat it too. It’s not possible to desire the milk and honey of the future while still clinging to the watermelons, leeks, and garlic of your past in Egypt. One must be released for the other to be received. So, as you walk with God, I encourage you to let go of whatever you may have enjoyed in your “Egypt” and set your gaze firmly on the Promised Land. As you do, understand that there is a small price of temporary discomfort you may have to pay to get to that place that flows with milk and honey.

Today’s Rhema

If you truly want to walk in God’s purpose and destiny for your life, you must let go of the watermelons, onions, and garlic of Egypt!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for this wonderful teaching. I receive grace to make necessary sacrifices and to let go of the pleasures of the past so that I can step into Your promises, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
