“Jesus said to them, ‘Come with me, and I will teach you to catch people.’ Then He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ They immediately left their nets and followed Him.”
—Matthew 4:19-20 (GNT)

Reflecting on this scripture, what stands out is the immediate and unquestioning obedience of the disciples. They didn’t pause to question where Jesus was leading them or what they would gain in return. They didn’t analyze His offer or argue their case—they simply followed. Their obedience opened the door to their transformation into the great Apostles we celebrate today, teaching us the power and significance of following the Lord without hesitation.

Jesus made a promise: if they followed Him, He would make them fishers of men. True to His word, they became exactly that. This illustrates the profound outcomes that come from obedience to God.

Beloved, whatever you hope to achieve this year is within reach if you choose to follow the Lord wholeheartedly. In today’s world, many struggle with obedience because they’ve been conditioned to believe their opinions or the opinions of others should take precedence. Yet, the scriptures reveal that the disciples achieved remarkable results because they set aside personal opinions and followed Jesus without reservation.

If you desire a significant shift in your life, I encourage you to put aside distractions and opinions—yours or others’—and align your heart fully with God’s word. Follow Him with a trusting and obedient heart. Jesus Himself said, “Whoever hears these sayings of Mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock” (Matthew 7:24-25, NKJV). When you follow in obedience, your foundation becomes unshakable. Hallelujah!
