“…God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” — John 4:24 (NKJV)
As we continue our walk with God, we must always keep one vital truth at the forefront of everything we do: God is Spirit. If you look closely at the opening scripture, the Bible does not say God is a spirit. Saying “a spirit” would imply He is just one of many spirits. Instead, it states that God is Spirit, meaning He is the Father of spirits.
Understanding this distinction is crucial for every believer. A person who lacks revelation of this truth will walk with God carnally and fail to receive anything from Him. They will treat God as if they are dealing with a mere human being. This explains why many people have walked with God for years but have nothing to show for it.
Beloved, you must understand that God is Spirit and you must approach Him as such. First, make up your mind to respond to God and His Word with your spirit rather than your senses. God can never be found in the realm of human senses or reasoning. You must arm yourself with this knowledge to follow Him in spirit and in truth.
Secondly, you must learn to receive from God by the Spirit, not by your senses. Do not try to receive from God the way you would receive from another person. Human beings receive things with their hands. With God, you receive first in your spirit before it manifests in your hands. I encourage you today to embrace this truth and follow God accordingly.
Today’s Rhema
God cannot be found in the senses; there is no God according to the senses!
Prayer
Father, I am grateful for this insightful teaching. I choose to respond to You with my spirit and not with my senses. I choose to receive from You with my spirit rather than according to my senses. As I do this, I walk in great grace in the name of Jesus. Amen!
