…this book of the Law must not depart from your lips. You must meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it… —Joshua 1:8 (GNT)
As you grow in your relationship with God, you must understand the importance of creating time to meditate on His Word. Your relationship with God requires more than attending church services or listening to messages from other people. You must also develop a personal habit of spending time with Him and allowing His Word to shape your life.
Unfortunately, many believers become so occupied with their daily activities that they hardly create time to reflect on what God says. They want to experience spiritual growth, but they neglect one of the important practices that help them grow. If you want to become stronger in your faith, you must learn to make God’s Word a priority.
Someone might ask, “But how do I create time for meditation when I have so many responsibilities?” You do so by being intentional about your priorities. You do not have to wait until you have nothing else to do before you spend time with God.
Set aside a specific period each day to read the Scriptures, reflect on what you have read, and pray for understanding. Meditation involves more than reading a passage quickly; it means thinking carefully about God’s Word and considering how to apply it to your life. Remember, the Bible says:
Happy are those who find joy in the law of the LORD, and who meditate on his law day and night. —Psalm 1:2 (GNT)
When you consistently meditate on God’s Word, you become better equipped to recognize His instructions and make decisions that please Him. Therefore, make a conscious decision to create time for God every day. Do not allow the demands of life to continually push your fellowship with Him aside. Start with a manageable routine and remain consistent.
As you read and meditate on His Word, ask yourself what it teaches you about God, what it reveals about your life, and what you need to do differently. The more attention you give to God’s Word, the more opportunity you create for it to influence your thoughts, character, and actions.
