Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; —Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)
As you run the race this year, you must make a conscious decision to trust the Lord with all your heart. After many years of walking with the Father, I have realized that it is one thing to believe He exists and is all-powerful, but it is quite another to trust Him completely. It is not enough to simply believe in God; you must be able to trust Him with your very life.
This means that when the going gets tough, you remain secure in Him. When things do not go the way you expected, you are not moved because your confidence is rooted in the Master. This is the heart attitude that the Savior desires from each of us. Unfortunately, such deep trust is rare in our world today.
Churches are often filled with people who know the Lord can perform signs and wonders, yet they do not trust Him to do the same in their own lives. They may still blame the Father for their predicaments or harbor questions rooted in doubt. While the enemy wants to keep people in that cycle of confusion, this should not be the case for you.
You can move beyond basic belief and begin trusting the Lord with all your heart by guarding your thoughts, words, and actions. Be careful not to allow fear into these areas, as fear gives birth to doubt. The moment you harbor doubt, you become double-minded and struggle to receive from the Lord —James 1:8 (NKJV).
Do everything in your power to cast out fear and invite faith through the diligent study of the Word. As it is written, So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God —Romans 10:17 (NKJV). By filling your heart with His truth, you strengthen your capacity to trust Him through every season.
