Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. —Psalm 1:1-3 (NKJV)
Due to the emergence of the internet and other technological innovations, the world has become a global village. Today, smartphones, social networking sites, and chat messengers allow you to communicate with people all over the world at the same time and at little cost. This development has made life easier and very interesting because you can be in any part of the world and communicate with friends and family members who live elsewhere.
The comfort and pleasure this development brings have made many delight themselves in these things. They spend time on social networking sites or chat messengers discussing with friends for hours. While this is good, priorities have to be set right.
As a child of God, no matter how tantalizing these developments can be or how busy your schedule is, decide to let the Word of God be your delight. At every point in your life, learn to crave the Word of God and make time for it. Let it interest you the same way—or even more than—social networks, smartphones, or any other thing, because the Word of God is life to you. It is a gift that God has given to us for profitable living.
If your interest is not in the Word of God, it means you don’t have a passion for God, and you don’t yet know God, because the Word of God is God Himself (John 1:1). You cannot say, “Oh, I love God so much,” yet His Word does not thrill you, interest you, or tickle your fancy.
If you do love God, you will always seek to study His Word. You will always want to know more about Him through it, and whenever there is a church service, you will always want to be there because you want to hear more of His Word. The Bible says:
“as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,” —1 Peter 2:2 (NKJV)
So you must desire it, spend time on it, meditate on it, and delight yourself in it. Let it be your final authority; let it bring you satisfaction and contentment. When your delight is in the Word of the Lord and you meditate on it day and night, it helps you to grow. As our opening scripture says:
“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.” —Psalm 1:3 (NKJV)
So hearken to these words today and watch your life soar high, for it is God’s recommendation for profitable living. God bless you!

Confession for the Day
The Word of God is life to me; it is my life. Therefore, my delight is in the Word. I will meditate on it day and night, and as I do so, I become like a tree planted by the riverside whose leaves are green. I produce results at the right time, and nothing can stop me or hinder my progress because I am unstoppable. I grow by the Word, I live by the Word, and I prosper by the Word, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
