The people there were more open-minded than the people in Thessalonica. They listened to the message with great eagerness, and every day they studied the Scriptures to see if what Paul said was really true. —Acts 17:11 (GNT)
Beloved, do you want to unlock the transforming power of the Word of God in your life? If yes, then I admonish you to be more open-minded to the Scriptures. Learn to listen to the Word with eagerness and study the Scriptures every day.
Why? Because without open-mindedness, the Word will not be sown into your heart like a seed. As long as the seed of God’s Word cannot be sown into your heart, it will not bear fruit in your life.
Sadly, too many believers today are not open-minded to the Scriptures. Most times, when the Word of God is coming to them, they tune out and think about several other things, which makes the Word have no effect in their lives.
However, if you are going to avoid this, you must make a conscious decision to open your mind to the Scriptures. Until you do this, the Word cannot be of any benefit to you. But if you choose to do this, you will be amazed at the transformation you will begin to experience.
The Bible records something remarkable about the believers in Berea:
As soon as night came, the believers sent Paul and Silas to Berea. When they arrived, they went to the synagogue. The people there were more open-minded than the people in Thessalonica. They listened to the message with great eagerness, and every day they studied the Scriptures to see if what Paul said was really true. Many of them believed; and many Greek women of high social standing and many Greek men also believed. —Acts 17:10-12 (GNT)
Did you see that? Take note of the part where it says the people in Berea were more open-minded than the people in Thessalonica. Because of this, many believed the Gospel there.
Beloved, you have a responsibility to decide if you are going to be like the people in Berea or those in Thessalonica. I admonish you to be like those in Berea because the Word of God will produce better results in your life if you are open to it and listen with all your heart. Do the needful today and watch your life move from glory to glory. Praise God!
