…after all, we don’t want to unwittingly give Satan an opening for yet more mischief—we’re not oblivious of his sly ways! — 2 Corinthians 2:11 (MSG)
In the first part of this article, we established the importance of paying attention to demonic activities so you can recognize and resist them. But that brings us to a crucial follow-up question: how do you protect yourself from these activities?
The first step is by taking your Christian walk seriously. Sadly, many believers don’t. Some see their relationship with God as a convenience rather than a commitment. They skip church casually, neglect the Word, ignore prayer and fasting, and never sacrifice or give. Yet, they expect to live in victory and enjoy divine protection. It doesn’t work that way.
Beloved, you cannot outsmart the devil while living a careless spiritual life. Dominion over demonic forces requires dedication to spiritual principles. Even our Lord Jesus defeated Satan through sacrifice. If you’re going to walk in the victory He secured for you, you must align your life with His Word. You must grow in spiritual discipline, walk in obedience, and stay aligned with God’s principles. Only then will the enemy have no legal ground to attack you.
A lukewarm Christian life creates open doors for demonic manipulation. That’s why it’s in your best interest to fan your spiritual flames. Make a conscious decision to step up in your relationship with God. Be fervent in prayer. Be consistent in fellowship. Be generous with your giving. Be obedient to the Word. That is how you fortify yourself and push back the works of darkness.
The Bible says, “…fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer” — Romans 12:11–12 (NKJV). That’s your posture of victory!
Today’s Rhema
When you are spiritually cold, you open yourself up to demonic oppression and manipulation.
Confession for the Day
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for teaching me Your Word and for opening my eyes to the importance of spiritual fervency. From today, I choose to take my walk with You seriously. I grow in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship. I close every door to demonic oppression and walk in victory, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
