“…whoever wants to serve me must follow me, so that my servant will be with me where I am. And my father will honor anyone who serves me…” John 12:26 (NKJV)
Beloved, are you a Christian who serves or you are a Christian who is served? I want you to consider this question very deeply because it will go a long way to come out of the place where the devil wants you to be and help you step into the path that God wants you to tread. Today, you find that there are far too many believers who only want to be served. They are very comfortable with coming to church, hearing the word, and doing nothing to give back. In most cases, when you speak to them, they tell you that they just want to be a member and not a worker. For them, they feel that becoming a worker in a church is too much commitment. But they fail to understand that they are still committed to something else. No one is neutral in this world, everyone is committed to something whether they like it or not, but the question is what you are committed to, does it really matter to God? Is it serving the purposes of God?
Many are unconsciously committed to courses that waste lives and increase iniquity on the earth. Many are committed to courses that only satisfy their self-interest and desires and at the end of the day it adds no value to their lives or to the life of anyone. The kingdom of God benefits nothing from their commitment and yet they still do not see that this is not the way forward. Beloved, this is not how God wants us to live our lives. You must understand that God saved you so that you can be a savior. He brought you to Christ so that you can bring others to Christ also. Now, this vision is cannot be possible if you are not a Christian who is open to service. So, I encourage you today, to make up your mind to be a Christian who serves. Remember, this thing about service is God’s desire for you, it is His will for your life. When our Lord Jesus Christ was choosing His disciples, “…he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men…” Matthew 4:19 (NKJV). Did you see that? This is technically His plan for everyone who follows Him. So, you can’t be a passive Christian, you have to wake up and serve in the house of the Lord. Become one who is adding to the work of the kingdom. Praise God!
Today’s Rhema
Service is God’s desire for you, therefore it is not negotiable!
Confession for the Day
As a child of God, I decree today that I choose the path of service. I refuse to be the one that is receiving service all the time. I choose this day to become the one who is serving and as I serve I am walking in the blessings of service in Jesus’ name. Amen!
