“Do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.” — 3 John 1:11 (NKJV)

One of the things I’ve observed in the world today is that there are people who do evil and seem to get away with it. However, when others try to imitate them, they face immediate consequences and are left wondering, “Why was Group A able to get away with it, but not me?” The answer is simple: evil is not to be copied or imitated.

You must understand that evil always has consequences—even if they’re delayed. The reason some people don’t face immediate repercussions is because God, in His mercy, is giving them time to repent. As the Bible says, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV). Did you see that?

So when someone continues in wickedness and appears to be “getting away with it,” they are only surviving on God’s mercy. But if they don’t turn from their ways, that mercy will eventually run out—and when it does, the consequences can be unbearable. That’s why the Bible warns: “Do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.” — 3 John 1:11 (NKJV)

Also, take to heart what Psalm 37:1–2 (GNT) says: “Don’t be worried on account of the wicked; don’t be jealous of those who do wrong. They will soon disappear like grass that dries up; they will die like plants that wither.” So no matter how tempting it may be to walk the path of evildoers, avoid it at all costs. Choose instead to walk in righteousness and represent God’s kingdom well.

Today’s Rhema

Those who do evil will always pay the price—therefore, avoid evil at all costs!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for bringing light to me in this area. I choose to walk in the path of the godly and avoid every appearance of evil. As I do this, I am walking in the blessings of righteousness, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
