Woman Giving Heart On Man's Hand

Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves.
—Philippians 2:3 (GNT)

As you walk with God in your Christian journey, you must become mindful of how you relate with people and the motives behind the things you do. You must avoid relating with people or doing anything out of selfish ambition. This is important because God has called us to live a life of selflessness, not selfishness.

When you do things from a place of selfish ambition, your focus becomes only yourself. You no longer care whether your actions are harmful to others or whether someone else is bearing the pain or consequences of your choices. All that matters at that point is your personal desire and pleasure. Sadly, this is the system that operates in much of the world today.

Many of the killings, betrayals, and evil acts we see around us are rooted in selfish ambition. Even in people’s relationship with God, this attitude is evident. Many seek God not because they truly love Him, but because of what they want to receive from Him. The moment they get what they desire, they disconnect from God. This same spirit of selfish ambition has also crept into politics, resulting in poor leadership and bad governance in many societies. But this is not the life God has called us to live.

That is why Scripture clearly admonishes us: Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves.
—Philippians 2:3 (GNT).

So, whatever you do—whether in your walk with God, in your relationships, or in any area of life—do not act from selfish ambition. Let selflessness be your driving force. Why? Because selflessness is a product of love, and love always wins.

Today’s Rhema

Whatever you do in word or deed, do not act from selfish ambition; let selflessness be your propelling force.

Confession for the Day

Father, I thank You for reminding me of the need to be selfless. I choose this day to walk in selflessness in all my dealings, and as I do, I walk in the blessings that come with it, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
