He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute Me?”
—Acts 9:4 (GNT)

Having established the need to set our priorities right, it is important to understand that this is a key factor in determining whether you are walking in the will of God or against it. Imagine Saul, who passionately persecuted the early believers, thinking he was doing the right thing. If our Lord Jesus Christ had not appeared to him, he would not have stopped. He would have continued persecuting believers, inflicting pain, and arresting many—believing he was doing God a favor. But all that changed when he had that encounter.

Beloved, it is possible to be fighting against God and working against His will for your life, all the while believing you are doing the right thing. Sadly, that is where many people find themselves today. All the efforts and sacrifices they make are in the opposite direction of God’s will for their lives. This is why many are not truly happy or fulfilled. They feel something is missing and go from place to place, seeking therapies and counseling to feel better—when the real secret lies in aligning their priorities with God’s priorities.

I encourage you today to think about this carefully so you do not end up fighting the will of God for your life. That is the worst place to be. I have been there before, wanting things for my life that were the complete opposite of what God wanted for me. I kept running in circles until I decided to follow God’s will. The moment my priorities changed, my pursuits changed, and ultimately, my life was transformed.

Beloved, the goal is to know God’s priorities for your life and follow them so you can live with purpose and fulfillment. When you come into alignment like this, it won’t matter what is happening in other people’s lives—you will neither be moved nor jealous, because you know you are walking in God’s will for your life. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for teaching me Your Word. I choose today to submit my will to Your will, to submit my priorities to Your priorities, and I declare that as I do this, I am walking in the blessings of submission, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
