“…Hear, O earth! Behold, I will certainly bring calamity on this people— The fruit of their thoughts, because they have not heeded My words Nor My law, but rejected it…” Jeremiah 6:19 (NKJV)

When we take a very close look at our opening text, we see a remarkable lesson that we can learn from. God says He was going to bring calamity on the people because of what was going through their thoughts. Sounds ridiculous right? Well, that’s exactly what the word of God says. As a matter of fact, the amplified version puts it this way, it says “…Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts (their schemes and devices) because they have not listened and obeyed My words, and as for My law, they have rejected it…”

Jeremiah 6:19 (AMPC). Now, what I am trying to bring out from this scripture is that our thoughts bear fruits and if caution is not taken, these fruits could be detrimental to our lives.

I know you may say, how is this possible? I will break it down. First of all, you need to understand that every word and action we say begins from our thoughts. Your thoughts shape your life, it attracts the events and activities that go on with you. It molds your behavior and influences your character. Your thoughts go a long way to determine what comes out of your mouth and what actions you are going to take. The Bible says, “….out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks….”Matthew 12:34 (NKJV). Now, this helps us begin to understand that our thoughts are very powerful and since it has the ability to make or break us, we must become careful with what we allow in our thought process so that it does not Influence our world, our words and our actions negatively. The Bible says, “…as he (a man) thinks in his heart, so is he…” Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV). So you must become conscious of the things you allow into your thought process. Anytime, evil thoughts come to you and the devil is trying to get you to dwell on it, you have to speak against that thought and command it to go from you. Anytime, the devil is trying to put negative thoughts in your mind about God and His kingdom, speak against it. When you do that, such evil thoughts will not fester in your life for any reason and only good thoughts will be allowed in your thought process. And this will ultimately impact your words,  actions and behavior positively. So, whatever you do, always remember that your thoughts bear fruits, so be careful what you plant there. Hallelujah!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am so grateful for the word you have ministered to me today. I choose therefore to become mindful of what goes through my mind. I choose to eliminate the wrong thoughts and keep only the right thoughts and as I do this, my life goes in the direction of God’s plan for me in the name of Jesus. Amen!
