I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 3:14 (ESV)
Having established the importance of having a definite goal in the first part of this article, it is important to note that this is the key to effective productivity. When your goal is defined, you don’t waste your time on the wrong things. For example, Apostle Paul explains in the Amplified version that he does not run without a definite goal. He makes it clear that he does not flail around like one beating the air or just shadow boxing.
Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without a definite goal); I do not box like one beating the air [and striking without an adversary]. —1 Corinthians 9:26 (AMP)
This means he doesn’t waste his time trying to do so many things at once. Whatever goal he sets for himself, that is what he goes for. It might sound simple, but if you begin to put this into practice, you’ll be shocked at how quickly you’ll achieve great feats. While multitasking is a popular idea today, your goals should still be defined so your actions stay streamlined rather than scattered.
Beloved, consider defining your goals clearly this year. Take it one step at a time and do not rush, because whatever you rush usually ends in a rush. It’s better to be slow and sure than to be fast and fall. Set out your goals and make plans on how to achieve them so you can channel your strength toward one purpose and achieve it.
I’ve seen cases where people try to achieve many things all at the same time and end up achieving nothing. Therefore, make a deliberate decision to chalk out a definite goal this year and go for it without changing your mind midway. This is the secret you need to be productive this year. Until you finish the goal you’ve set for yourself, don’t start something else.
Practice the art of starting and finishing every project before you begin a new one. When you do this, you’ll have far fewer unfinished projects in your life. Focus your energy on your defined goals and you will see the results manifest. Praise God!

Prayer
Great, O God, is Thy faithfulness; I am most grateful for exposing the truth about a definite goal to me. I declare that with this new information, I refuse to do anything this year without a definite purpose. I declare that efforts will be made to have a definite goal and achieve them within the time frame that I am supposed to achieve them in Jesus’ name. Amen!
