“When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt…”—Deuteronomy 20:1 (NKJV)
Several accounts in the Bible show us how kings in Bible days fought their wars. They often joined forces with other powerful kings. This ensured that they didn’t only have to depend on their own resource, but those of other kings too whom they had allied themselves with. If the kings of old understood they didn’t need to fight their battles alone, I think it’s high time Christians understand it too. Most people seem to have a mindset that they are all alone, so they have to do everything in their life by themselves. You even hear people say things like, “I don’t have anyone to help me.” No that’s not true at all. You have the Holy Spirit, He is willing and ever ready to help you, he is willing and ever ready to fight your battles with you if you would let him.
Allowing the Holy Spirit to fight our battle for us is the only way we are sure of not fighting alone. Man is not reliable but the Holy Spirit is a reliable partner. He would not abandon you or sell your trust for Gold or silver. You may be thinking, “I have no battles to fight, so am fine on my own.” The truth is, no matter how calm you are, or how blessed you are, or how lovely you are, the enemy will still love to toy with you. This means you will always have wars to fight, and battles to win. And the war a Christian fights is not a physical one but a spiritual war. And the Bible was clear on this when it declared saying, “….we do not wrestle not against flesh and blood but against, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places….” Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV). Meaning as a Christian, you will have wars to fight but you do not have to fight these wars alone. This is why you should form a formidable force with the Holy Spirit, who comes with all He has to ensure we do not only have someone to fight with us but someone who never loses a fight. So the alliance we form is with the Holy Spirit and he helps win our fight all the time. If you have not formed an alliance with the Holy Spirit now would be the best time to do so. Amen!
