“For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:6 (NKJV)
In my walk with God over the years, I’ve noticed that many of God’s people want to worship from a place of comfort. They aren’t willing to make sacrifices or go the extra mile for God and His work. Often, they claim they don’t have time for the things of God because of their busy schedules. They make all the sacrifices needed for their businesses, but when it comes to making sacrifices for God, they always seem to have an excuse.
Is this how God wants us to live our lives as believers? Certainly not. If you are in Christ, you must understand that worshiping God will not happen without sacrifices. Everything you do with and for God will require sacrifice. In other words, you will face discomfort. You will have to inconvenience yourself to fulfill the purposes of God.
If you are waiting for a perfect moment to serve and worship God, that moment may never come. This is why the Bible says, “He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap” — Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NKJV). This means that if you are always focused on your busy schedule or other obstacles, you will never worship the Lord or render your services to Him.
Sadly, many believers today have lived their lives for years without giving God the attention He deserves. They haven’t accomplished anything for God because they were unwilling to make sacrifices. Yet, when they encounter trouble, they expect God to show up for them. Often, it’s the troubles of life that draw people to God, but this shouldn’t be the case.
So, as you journey in your Christian Walk, refuse to let difficult situations be your wake-up call. Start today by making sacrifices for God. Attending church services, serving in church, or giving for the furtherance of the Gospel won’t always be easy. But once your mind is made up, you will find yourself doing these things naturally. Begin today to make the necessary sacrifices for God and His cause, and watch your life move from glory to glory. Hallelujah!
Today’s Rhema
If you will worship God qualitatively or achieve anything of worth for Him, it will not be without sacrifice.
Confession for the Day
Father, I am grateful for this truth You have communicated to me today. I give up all excuses that have been holding me back from giving You my time and services. I embrace the sacrificial life, and as I begin to do this, I am walking in the blessings that come with sacrificial service and followership, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
