Worry Is a Robber

sadness, depression, unhappy

“Worry can rob you of happiness, but kind words will cheer you up” Proverbs 12:25( GNT)

Many years ago, one thing I was always fond of doing was worrying. I worry about everything. I worried about what I was going to eat, what I was going to wear and how my dreams were going to come to pass. In fact, it got to a point where I started worrying about how my wife would come, what she was going to look like and all that. Worry was a major part of my life and guess what, it robbed me of my happiness. Those days, I was living in depression because I was always sad.

However, when I came to know the Lord, all that began to change because I found the truth. I never knew that worrying was something the devil had brought to my life to keep me perpetually sad. It was the tool of the devil to manipulate me anytime and anyhow and because I was not aware of the truth, I gave in to such manipulation. But then, I discovered a scripture that set me free till today.

The Bible says, “…be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus…” Philippians 4:6 (NKJV). Did you see that? In Matthew 6:27-32, Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “…which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.” So, if your Heavenly Father knows that you need these things, why worry about them? Is it not better that you keep your faith in God instead? Well, I encourage you to say no to worry, because it is a robber and will rob you of many things. You might say, what should I do then? It is simple, saturate your mind with the word of God and let His promises become your contemplation. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

If you give worry a place in your life, it will steal from you,  but if you give the promises of God a place in your life, it will bless and lift you!

Confession for the Day

Heavenly Father, I am grateful for this wonderful truth you have brought to my remembrance. I choose this day to be anxious for nothing but in everything, by prayer and supplication, I choose to make my request known. Praise God!
