jesus, christ, miracle

“But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah…”

—Mark 8:28 (NKJV)

In the opening scripture, we see where Jesus directly asked His disciples who they say He was. Jesus knew who He was, and several times He told them who He was. But He wanted to know what they knew about Him; he wanted to know what was going on in their minds. He wanted their own views of His person because He knew that it was important for them to know Him. Peter was the only one who got a clear revelation of who Jesus is or what He represented. It was no surprise that He handed over His sheep to Peter when He was about to go meet the Father. This shows us that our walk with Jesus Christ is totally dependent on how we see Him and the way we take Him. It also shows us that a man’s understanding of who Jesus is is what Jesus will be to him. Many people are yet to understand who Jesus is, while some have limited understanding of who He is or who He can be to them.

Some called Him Moses, some thought He was John the Baptist, some thought He was a prophet, Some people called our Lord Jesus Christ the son of the carpenter, while some didn’t know what or who to call Him. They said “Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s Son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon? Aren’t His sisters here with us? And they took offense at him.” Mark 6:3 (NIV). They couldn’t see Jesus beyond the family that they knew. No wonder, those from his Father’s town could not receive their miracle. They knew him as a carpenter, they couldn’t see the real Him in what He did, and they did not know who He was, or who He could be to them. And the Bible records that he could not do any mighty works there. “He could not do any miracle there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.” Mark 6:5 (NIV) So the question we are still asking now is, “Who is Jesus to you? What does Jesus represent in your life?” You can’t know Jesus or understand Jesus beyond who you take Him to be. And the truth many have failed to understand is, “Jesus can be to you whatever you say or whoever you say He is.” Meaning, it’s who you say Jesus is, that is who He will be. Your personal revelation and discoveries of Jesus Christ will give you the revolution you are looking for. So get to work and get to know Him better. Praise God!
