“….Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you….”Hebrews 13:17 (NKJV)
Now that we have addressed the importance of you being accountable to a spiritual authority this year, we are going to be looking at some of its glorious benefits that will help you actualize God’s plan for your life. The first benefit is that, when you become accountable, you are automatically aligned to the first step of fulfilling God’s plans for your life. Being accountable is God’s number one plan for you. When you are not accountable to anyone, you have missed the first step and will never get to the next step because our God is a God of order.
Secondly, when you are accountable to a spiritual authority, God can count on you to put in your care certain responsibilities. Take a look at the life of Joshua, he was one person that was so accountable to the point where he followed Moses everywhere. Even when God asked Moses to come up to the mountain, Joshua followed him. Although he didn’t get to the top of the mountain, he was around the mountain ( Exodus 24:14, Exodus 32:17), and when Moses was no more, God had to choose Joshua to carry on with the work that Moses started. So, you see that when you are accountable, God can count on you to handle certain responsibilities.
Thirdly, accountability will help you avoid several mistakes that could ruin your destiny. Joseph was a man who was accountable to God and his boss potiphar and when his bosses wife wanted him to sleep with her, he refused. Rather, “…he said to his master’s wife,“Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”-Genesis 39:8-9 (NKJV). Did you see that? Even though, he finally went to jail, he didn’t make that mistake and he later became a prime minister. Beloved, there is so much more you can enjoy when you are living a life of accountability, so I encourage you to be accountable as you journey in your Christian walk.

Father, I am grateful for your word and your love towards me. I choose to take accountability seriously and as I do, I am manifesting the plans and purposes of God for my life in the name of Jesus. Amen!
