“…and many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt…” —Daniel 12:2
As we discussed in the previous article, eternity is something we all must prepare for while we are still in this world. But sadly, many people prepare for everything else except their eternal future. They prepare to go to school, prepare to get married, and prepare for their future careers, but they never deem it necessary to prepare for eternity, which is more real and more lasting than this present world. Beloved, let your eternal destination be of concern to you. Live conscious of this truth everyday because whether you like it or not, it will certainly come. For each day that passes, the day draws near when you will depart this world. For some people, it might take longer, while for others, it might be shorter than expected. But a prepared man does not get troubled about this. So begin today to ponder this truth.
Being a philanthropist or a kind and good person will not guarantee a peaceful eternity, even though there is nothing wrong with that. Wealth and a nice job will not guarantee a peaceful eternity. The only thing that guarantees a peaceful eternity is your life in Jesus Christ the risen Lord who paid the price for you and took your sins away. It is only in His name that salvation can be found (Acts 4:12) for whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13) and it is only in His blood that your sins can be washed away (Matthew 26:28; Acts 2:38). So take this seriously and give it some thought. Your eternal destination should be your utmost priority. This is not about religion; it is about where YOU will spend your eternity. In our opening text, the Bible says, a day is coming when many of those who sleep (died) in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt…” Daniel 12:2. The choice is completely yours. If you are in Christ already, rejoice and work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12) but if you are not, I advise you to ponder on this and make a decision; being eternally lost is the worst thing that can happen to any man. God bless you!

Confession for the Day
Father in the Name of Jesus, I thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ. I believe He is your son, I believe He died for me; I believe He was raised up from the dead after three days; and I believe He has ascended to heaven. Therefore, I declare that Jesus is the Lord of my life and will continually be the Lord of my life in the name of Jesus. Amen!
