“…While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell facedown and begged Him, “Lord, if You are willing, you can make me clean…” Luke 5:12 (NKJV)

Having established the purpose of prayers, we will be looking at another dimension to this thought on prayers. Another reason why we pray to God is to maintain our relationship with God. Christianity is not some game, it is a relationship between two people and to keep the relationship alive, prayer is needed, which is why we pray. Unfortunately, some people think that prayer is only for asking God the things we want and giving to him the problems we have. However as much as that can be involved in the conversation, that does not make it the sole purpose of prayers. It is just like the relationship between a man and his wife. Their relationship is not only based on their needs alone but companionship and love. This is how our relationship is with God.

Our relationship is based on love and when there is love, there is sharing, there is forgiveness, and there is understanding and lots more. So, I encourage you to have the right perspective about prayers. You are not disturbing God during prayer time but communing with Him. Don’t see prayer as a tool for just receiving from God, it is a carnal way of seeing prayers. Prayer is much more than that. Prayer is life, it is worship, and it is fellowship. When you have an understanding of this truth, you will never give up on prayers, you will not have hesitations in prayers, and you will not be bitter when you haven’t seen results. So, understand the purpose of prayers today and change your perspective towards prayers. It is not a disturbance but fellowship. You are a priest set aside to offer unto God spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5 NIV). Part of that spiritual sacrifice is prayers. Praise God!

Today’s Rhema

Through prayers you maintain your relationship with God, so get involved in daily prayers!

Confession for the Day

This day my understanding of prayers has increased, therefore I decree that all my life, I will be given to prayers and as I do, I enjoy the rich benefit of having fellowship with God in Jesus name. Amen!
