A Man praying holding a Holy Bible.

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray… —James 5:13 (NKJV)

Beloved, when you go through tough times, do not cry, fret, or be worried. Instead, do what God says you should do. What is that, you might ask?

It is prayer. Prayer, my dear friend, is God’s recommendation for us in any situation. In our opening scripture, the Bible asks, “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray…” (James 5:13, NKJV). If only you will be diligent enough to put this to work, you will be amazed at the results you will experience in your life.

The challenge today is that many people talk down on the power of prayer. They say things like, “Instead of taking constructive steps, you are busy praying.” This might sound wise, but it is not a helpful perspective. Even if you are to take steps, they should be steps inspired by God, not by fear and pressure.

Therefore, the best thing you can do is make prayer the first step you take in any situation. You need wisdom and direction, which you can only get from God when you pray. Beyond that, you must understand that every situation has a spiritual dimension that can only be revealed and handled through prayer.

I admonish you to take prayer seriously. Do it intentionally, plan for it, and spend time in it. Refuse to panic or be anxious when you go through anything; instead, stand your ground and do what God’s Word says. The Bible gives us this clear instruction:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)

So, make a conscious decision to let prayer become part of your life. After you have prayed, believe in what you have done and be expectant, because the Bible lets us know that “…everyone who asks receives…” (Matthew 7:8, NKJV). God bless you!

Today’s Rhema

Prayer is God’s recommendation for us in times of difficulty!

Confession for the Day

All-powerful and ever-living Father, thank you for the wisdom revealed in Your Word. I declare that henceforth, I will never panic or worry. Instead, I choose to pray whether there is a need for it or not. Thank you, Father, because as I carry on in prayer, my life is changed, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
