“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed….” Luke 4:18 (NKJV)
Beloved as you journey in your walk with God, one of the things you must watch out for is the spirit of heaviness. Why? Because, the spirit of heaviness is the spirit that is responsible for depression, sadness and discouragement. If you do not cautiously avoid this spirit, you will find yourself battling with discouragement and depression, even though our Lord Jesus Christ already got the victory for you.
So, as you journey in your Christian walk, become mindful about this spirit and refuse to give in to its operations in your life. Over the years, many of God’s people have fallen for the deception of this wicked spirit and today they are discouraged and depressed. Some have even gone as far as taking their lives because they were under the control of this spirit. However, you can choose to stand your ground and refuse to allow this spirit to rule over you. Remember, when our Lord Jesus Christ came to this world, one of the things He said God has anointed Him to do was to heal the broken hearted (Luke 4:18).
So, when He paid the price for you on the cross, this area was settled. What you are supposed to have as a believer is the joy of the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17) and not a broken heart. It is true that situations will try to push you to the wall and make you very emotional, but refuse to give in to all that. Encourage yourself in the Lord like David (1 Samuel 30:6) and rebuke that spirit in the name of Jesus. Whenever you see yourself falling into that place of depression or discouragement, know that a spirit is responsible. Rebuke it using the name of Jesus and that spirit will go from you. Hallelujah!
Today’s Rhema
Whenever you see yourself falling into that place of depression or discouragement, know that a spirit is responsible, handle it before it handles you!
Confession for the Day
Thank you, Father, for exposing the lies of the devil to me. I rebuke every spirit of heaviness from my life and I decree that I am full of joy and joy is running to an overflow in my life in the name of Jesus. Amen!
