Soon afterwards, Jesus travelled through the cities and villages, preaching and proclaiming the good news of God’s kingdom. The Twelve were with him, along with some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses. Among them was Mary Magdalene (from whom seven demons had been thrown out), Joanna (the wife of Herod’s servant Chuza), Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources” – Luke 8:1-3 (NKJV).

Our opening scripture tells us about certain women who distinguished themselves by the way they gave towards the work of the kingdom. They had benefited from the gospel in receiving healing and deliverance from evil spirits, so, in appreciation, they began to give their resources towards its furtherance—not necessarily out of their abundance, but whatever they had. They had a sense of responsibility, knowing that this gospel they had benefited from could also benefit others. Their attitude was exceptional enough to have been mentioned in the Gospels, and God wants us to emulate them and be kingdom financiers.

As a Christian who has received salvation and the blessings it brings, you have a responsibility to help spread the gospel with your resources, as these women did. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price to purchase our salvation. We live in a world where money facilitates things; with financial resources, the gospel can spread faster. Your contribution helps fulfill God’s dream for mankind by using your resources to promote and spread the gospel. While it is good to spend on personal comforts, the kingdom of God must come first. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

If the gospel has blessed you and lifted you, the right thing to do is to use your resources to spread the gospel!

Confession for the Day

Father, in the Name of Jesus, Your word declares in 2Corinthians 9:10 that You are the one who gives seed to the Sower. Therefore, I declare that from every blessing that comes to me, I will channel some toward spreading the gospel, because giving is my life and my calling. I will do everything within my reach to send the gospel to the far ends of the earth by the power of God’s Spirit, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
