Paul gathered up a bundle of sticks and was putting them on the fire when a snake came out on account of the heat and fastened itself to his hand. —Acts 28:3 (GNT)

Beloved, have you ever wondered why you keep having those nightmares? Have you been experiencing demonic activity around you and wondering when it will stop? Well, I have good news for you.

As a believer in Jesus, you are not supposed to face these activities. However, because of limited understanding regarding your rights in Christ and the rules of engagement, these issues often continue. If you want them to stop, you have to turn on the heat, and they will leave you alone.

In our opening text, the Bible says, “Paul gathered up a bundle of sticks and was putting them on the fire when a snake came out on account of the heat and fastened itself to his hand” (Acts 28:3, GNT). The snake was right in the midst of the sticks and did not move until the fire was lit. The moment the heat came, the snake became uncomfortable and fled.

In the same way, if you want demonic activity to stop, you must stop being a cold or lukewarm Christian. You have to turn on the heat. When you do, demons get uncomfortable around you and flee.

You might ask, “How do I turn on the heat in my life?” There are many things you must do, but the first step is to deliberately rekindle your love for God, His Word, and His work. Demons love it when the things of God become boring to you. They thrive when worldly activities are the only things that interest you.

Think about it: why do you get bored with the God who gave you life, yet enjoy worldly things that add no value to you? For example, some people enjoy a club more than the house of God. They can stay in a club until morning, but when they are in church, they are constantly checking the time.

This indicates that something has gone wrong spiritually. To correct this, you need to cry out to God to restore your hunger and thirst for spiritual things. When this happens, you will always want to be in the presence of God, praying and studying the Word.

You will desire to tell others about Jesus and be interested in their salvation. Above all, you will hate the things that God hates. Demons will stay far from you because you no longer desire the things that attract them. So, check your life and work toward rekindling your love for God. Hallelujah!
