“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” – John 1:1–3 (NKJV)

Do you want to know God more? The secret is in knowing more of His Word. Over the years, I have heard many people make statements like, “Lord, I want to see You. Lord, I want to know You.” And it pleases my heart to see that they truly desire a deeper relationship with God. But you see, this won’t happen by simply saying it or wishing for it. It will only happen if actions are taken toward that desire.

You must understand that to know God more, you need to take deliberate steps. Interestingly, God has already made provisions for this in His Word. Anyone who desires to know the Lord must cultivate the habit of studying the Word. As they do so, they will come to know Him more intimately.

In our opening text, we see it clearly written that the Word is God. This means you cannot look for God outside His Word, and you cannot discover Him if you don’t give attention to it.

In the Word, you discover God’s thoughts, His character, and His personality. You get to know His ways—and, most importantly, His heart. You must understand that giving attention to the Word of God brings you closer to Him. At one point, our Lord Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” – John 14:6 (NKJV).

As we all know, Jesus Christ is the Word of God made flesh. If you truly desire to see God, then you must see His Word as the Way. You must see His Word as the Truth. And you must see His Word as the Life. If you can fill your heart with His Word, then the God in you will become active. So don’t ignore the Word—go for it. Because knowledge of the Word leads to knowledge of the Holy One, and knowledge of the Holy One leads to understanding (Proverbs 9:10). Through understanding, your life is established (Proverbs 24:3). Therefore, embrace the Word and know the Lord.

Today’s Rhema

God is in His Word—go for His Word!

Confession for the Day

I declare today that God is in His Word, and there is no other place to find Him except in His Word. Therefore, I take hold of the Word and give myself to the study of it day and night. As I continue to study the Word, the transforming power of God is at work in me, shaping me into everything the Word talks about. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
