“…one thing you lack; go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross and follow Me” But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowfully, for he had great possessions…” Mark 10:21-22 (NKJV)
Beloved, do you really want to walk in an uncommon victory in your life? Do you want to experience success on all sides? Well, it is possible, but you must be willing to pay the price required to secure your victory—in marriage, business and other areas of your life. The Bible in the book of Mark 10:17-22 tells an interesting story of a rich young man who approached Jesus one day and said, “good teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” Mark 10:17 And Jesus said to him, “you know the commandments; do not commit adultery; do not murder,’ do not steal,’ do not bear false witness,’ do not defraud, Honour your father and your mother.’” And he answered and said to Him, teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.” Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, “…one thing you lack; go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross and follow Me” But he was sad at this word and went away sorrowfully, for he had great possessions…” Mark 10:18-22 (NKJV)
The young man wanted eternal life, but he was not ready to give up his possessions to walk down that path. He wanted the crown but was unwilling to make sacrifices. This is the story of so many of God’s people today. Beloved, if you truly want to walk in victory, you must be willing to make sacrifices. In my walk with God so far, I have come to realize that if you are going to achieve certain things in life and live victorious, you must be willing to let go of something or go through some things in order to get what you want. You have to understand that every achievement comes at a price. So, my question for you today is: what do you want to achieve in your life in the days to come? Are you willing to make the necessary sacrifices that will help you achieve those things? Well, you should be willing to go the extra mile, but not in a negative way. You should be willing to discipline yourself in the areas where it is needed; you should be willing to deprive yourself of certain pleasures just to be able to get what you want. When you do this, trust me, your sacrifice will surely pay off at the right time. Hallelujah!
