“…for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content…” Philippians 4:11 (NKJV)

Having established the importance of being content, someone might say but is this really necessary, can’t I aspire for more? Well, no one is stopping you from aspiring high but you must learn to appreciate where you are and what you have as you journey in your aspirations.  The reason is because when you have a heart of gratitude for where God has brought you and what He has given to you, it becomes easy to step into His next plan for your life. Think about it, if you cannot acknowledge where you are and what you have and be grateful for it, then how can you be grateful in the next level you are aspiring for? If you cannot be grateful for your current level, you will certainly not be grateful in the next level.

So I encourage you to train yourself to be content with where you are and what you have. Apostle Paul in our opening scripture, said, I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content…” He didn’t stop there, He said “…I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to abound and to suffer need…” Philippians 4:11-12 (NKJV). Did you see that? He had an understanding that every Christian needs to possess.

So make a conscious decision to walk in this path and be content with where you are and what you have. It is the secret to true happiness and satisfaction in life. It is the key to being grateful for what God has done in your life and where He has brought you. And finally it is the secret that qualifies you to gracefully step into your next level. Hallelujah!
